Two-part system designed to qualify distribution cable pairs prior to the installation of xDSL services.
The two units, comprised of the Field Unit and the Central Office Unit, are controlled by low-current microprocessors and powered by disposable alkaline penlight cells.
Field Unit: Contains a precision tone generator under the control of an internal microprocessor and is further controlledby the Central Office Unit when connected to a pair to be qualified.
Central Office Unit: Contains an 8-bit microprocessor wiht a clock speed of4.9 MHz, EEPROM memory devices, filtering and measuring circuits to determine the insertion loss of any distribution pair. It is equipped with an internal modem.
